In my humble opinion, as a stepmom, I really appreciate it when my step kids give me a card, gift and or call me on my birthday or Mother's Day. Just the thoughtfulness or remembering me on these days means so much to me. Sometimes dad don't realize their children, young and older, need guidance to remember their Stepmother on special days.
